Amy Dragisic
Hi, my name is Amy Dragisic, I am 11 years old & will be the youngest candidate for the South East area.
I want to be your voice for the ‘pre-teens’ in the Youth Parliament.
Sometimes, the views of younger children are overlooked in favour of teenagers. I will make sure our voice is heard.
I may not be able to change the world as a member of the Youth Parliament but I will listen to what children of all ages want and do my best to ensure their views are put to the people who can.
Funding for sex education, road safety & healthy eating programmes in schools are under threat; I will do my best to make sure this does not happen.
I believe youth clubs should cater for pre-teens and not just older children, I will work hard to raise awareness & ensure the people needed to run such clubs are supported.
If elected, I will work hard to listen to your views & opinions and make sure parliament knows about them!
Thankyou for listening & remember to vote Amy in January for the pre-teens!
Debbie-Lea Pritchard
Hi
My name is Debbie-Lea Pritchard and I am 17 years old.
I have got a years experience already as I have been busy working and representing young people in the South East area for the past year.
The skills I have are:-
• I am a good listener
• I am good at putting different peoples views forward which I may not agree with but stay professional after all I would be elected to represent you
My aim this year is to support the young people who are having difficulties’ with car insurance. I find that this is a vicious circle with young people wanting independence, trying to commute to places and find a job.
If you are 11-16 years of age and feel that it is not important or doesn’t apply to you….. Please re-think as I need you to consider this will be your problem in a few years time.
If I can act on this now and try to make a difference it will benefit you in the future
The work that I intend to do is as follows:-
• I want to negotiate with the leader of the council, car insurances’ in Wakefield and young people. it is never too late to change anything so why should we be penalised for our age?
• I believe in a fare and equal price then if we have an accident then the cost would go up. It feels like the car insurance companies are asking too much ….which means that we cannot afford to drive a 17!
Thank you for reading my manifesto.
Please vote for me, Debbie-Lea
Ellie Garrison
Hi I’m Ellie Garrison
I’m running for the position of MYP in the 2012 UK Youth Parliament in the South East Area of Wakefield.
I’m running because I want to change the views of people on what they think of young people.
Only 5% of stories published about young people are good, I want to change this.
I also want to promote positive activities for young people that are available for young people for free! I hope from the 30th Jan ’12 to the 3rd Feb ’12 you will vote Ellie Garrison to be the MYP for the South East Area of Wakefield!
Thank-you and vote Ellie Garrison.
Emilie Marsh
What I aim to do if I become an MYP?
I want to be an MYP so that I can improve student voice within schools, young people’s awareness and understanding of What’s next after GCSE’s, STI’s, teenage pregnancy, and contraception.
Student voice
I’m lucky because my school already has a brilliant student voice system in place called ‘Student Council’, which I am a member of. The sad thing is not all schools have system where students can voice there opinions on what they want from the school. This is why you should vote for me, so that i can go to local schools and promote student voice and try make a difference in your schools so that young people are being heard!!
What next after GCSEs
I also want to improve young peoples awareness and understanding of what options you actually have after your GCSEs. Many young people still believe that further education is for clever people and that there are no other ways to gain qualifications. i want to eliminate this stereotypical image of education and enlighten my fellow young people on what its actually out there for them!!
STIs, Teen Pregnancy, and contraception
I also want to improve young peoples awareness and understanding of basic sex education. This is vital information that all young people should know and know well. There are still many young people who think the pill can stop you getting pregnant or iv you take the pill you don't need a condom! This is wrong and i want to try improve young peoples knowledge on these areas so that they can be safe and sensible and know what to do and where to go if they need help!
