Upton Youth Club on Waggon Lane has been there since the old mine closed.
Its open on Monday and Wednesday Evenings for anyone aged 13-19 between 6:45pm and 9:00pm. There is a MUGA (multi-use games area) available at the back of the club open all day every day. In the club there is a Cyber Café, Games Room, Table Tennis, Pool and Dance Area. The staff encourage young people(via Youth opportunity Funding) to organise a range of activities both on and off site. Previous activities have included Dance projects, residentials, Karting, visits to shows, training opportunities i.e. First Aid, Cooking etc. Or just come and relax. We are always happy to see new members so call in and give it a try.
Staff are on hand to discuss any issues and provide support when needed.
It has a recording studio for bands and musicians on Tuesday evenings by arrangement
On Thursdays there is a drop in session for young people not in work or education.
A group also runs just for girls. (membership by arrangement)
The local Photograhy Club meets there as well.
